About Upward Spiral
The Upward Spiral was created out of growing need for a health and fitness center that would actually educate it’s clients and members. Picking up where other programs leave off our clients know and understand more about the human body, health, fitness etc than most trainers and therapists. Industry statistics show that 47% of new gym members injure themselves in the first six weeks. Many times it is a minor injury due to a muscular imbalance or a past issue that flairs up with increased activity. With the right kind of education and training the client or member can not only move past this common sticking point but also learn valuable information about their specific requirements for exercise.
We have found that this tends to lead to a better relationship with exercise. We start by addressing any chronic pain or chronic stress issues that the individual has. Pain and excessive stress tax the body in a way that makes it difficult to properly recover from exercise or even from normal daily activity. This is usually evidenced by the feeling that you are wearing out or feeling old. Pain and Stress deplete valuable resources and raw materials from the body faster than most people can recover them. This is the first energy crisis that we talk to people about. Correcting these issues is the first step to getting a person to a place where they can begin to enjoy exercise and increased activity.
